Description

Aim

We make hundreds of decisions every day; whether they are conscious or subconscious, sound decision-making is a primary task of, and expectation for, managers. However, in the fast pace of business, not enough time is spent thinking about the question that needs answering, which leads to decisions being made based on the symptoms and not the root cause. This doesn’t necessarily result in bad decision-making per se, but it can often result in changes to decisions when the root cause re-surfaces, leaving colleagues with a sense of confusion. In turn, this can make the implementation of future decisions, a challenge for managers. In response, Training Central offers you comprehensive, yet practical decision making training materials that will equip your learners with the fundamental skills and capabilities to make consistent and evidence-based decisions.

The decision making training explores the context in which decisions arise, navigating the benefits of an evidence-base upon which to find solutions. Participants are supported to reflect on the decisions they face and the challenges that arise from each. This forms the backdrop against which tools such as Fishbone Analysis, Grid Analysis and Argument Mapping are covered and practised; providing learners with the opportunity to apply decision-making models to genuine problems they are facing.

Decision making bias is uncovered through practical discussion and activities; helping learners to reflect on how bias manifests and strategies to recognise these and overcome them.

The final session provides learners with a facilitated journey through implementing decisions. Participants are provided with a series of tools that will support them in applying, monitoring and reviewing decisions, ensuring their decisions remain fit for purpose now and in the future.
